How we verify
How we check what we publish.
Kasari answers everyday questions about how things work in Nepal. The kind people usually settle by asking relatives, Facebook groups or Reddit.
Two kinds of information
Every requirement on a guide is labelled. Official means it comes from the responsible office's own website, service charter (नागरिक बडापत्र), an act or a published notice. The source is linked at the bottom of the page. In practice means it isn't written down officially but people who went through the process are often asked for it.
Experiences people send us are published as community reports. They sit apart from the official list and are marked “not verified”.
What “verified” and “needs review” mean
An entry is verified when its requirements, fee and timing have been checked against an official source on the date shown. It's marked needs review when at least one of those details isn't confirmed on an official page yet: the page was down, out of date or silent on it, so the entry leans on news reports or other secondary sources. Every source is listed at the bottom of the entry. Confirm fees and documents with the office before you travel.
Where questions come from
We prioritise questions that are asked often but answered badly: threads on r/Nepal and r/Kathmandu that never got a clear reply, repeated questions in Facebook groups and questions sent to us directly. When an entry started as a public question we link the original thread. We write our own summary and never copy people's posts.
Office locations
Office locations come from OpenStreetMap, then get cleaned up: names standardised, duplicates removed, and things like officers' residences filtered out. Pins are marked “from OpenStreetMap” until someone confirms them in person. Distances are straight-line; directions come from Google Maps.
Keeping it current
Rules in Nepal change with budgets, fiscal years and new directives. Every entry shows the date it was last checked. If something is out of date, tell us. We confirm the change against the source before editing.
Independence
Kasari is independent and not affiliated with the Government of Nepal, any ministry, department or office listed here. We don't charge for information and we don't take payment to list or rank anything.
